Legacy L8611 Heavy-Duty Retractable Air Hose Reel-with 3/8-Inch by 50-Rubber Hose Review

OK, so I'm a nut: I bought the Legacy 8611 to install in my home garage.It seems very sturdy -- but maybe I'm not giving it the heavy work-out you might, on the bed of a service truck, or overhead some grease bay.(Note: If you're concerned about such things, this model is from China rather than Iowa; nevertheless it seems well-made. I chose the 8611 over Legacy's newer "LevelWind" models even though they're made in the USA and have the hose-leveler feature -- because they are plastic (PP) instead of metal!Also I like the idea of bolting it down to my slab, versus the LevelWind models have rubber feet and a wall bracket.)Though the description doesn't say so, a 3-foot lead-in hose and two fittings are included in the package.Also, the photo is incorrect in respect to the way it was actually packaged: to use it on the floor (as shown), you must unbolt the upper arm and rotate it 90 degrees (tilt it forward).It's no big deal, but just in case you're some kind of wimp who doesn't want to fiddle around with his/her new toys...

Ames True Temper Reeleasy Hose Reel Cart #2386275 Review

I bought this item from HomeDepot. It started leaking in the first season itself. I did a mistake of calling Ames about the leak, I should have returned to the store.

Ames sent me parts, I replaced according to instructions. Leaking stopped then started again after a month. Called Ames again, they sent me parts again. This time leaking did not stop. Called Ames again, they sent me another part, replaced that too. Leaking does not stop. Finally called Ames for replacement, did not wanted to continue replacing parts. They refused to send replacement cart, they said they can only send parts and it should stop the leak.

I gave up, garbaged this hose reel. Waste of my money and time. Shopping around to buy new one. Trying to decide between RapidReel Wall Reel and ReelSmart Outdoor Sink Station with Auto-Rewind.

This makes so much sense!My deck no longer has hose snaking all over it, and the can is much lighter than a standard watering can.I do prefer to pull the entire 40 feet of hose out and lock it in place to do the plants in the front of the house (the spigot is in the back) as there is some tension on the hose otherwise, but reeling it back in is a snap - just move the lever to unlock.Well made also, and nothing to rust.As it is sealed, no leaves or sprouts get inside to hinder the water spray.Can't say enough good things about this product.

Rapid Reel 150-Foot Two-Wheel Cart Hose Reel #GH164-CT Review

This was my 2nd Rapid Reel.I had ordered this expecting it to be the same as my old one but it was a newer model.I was somewhat disapointed that this newer model was $30 more than the older one and when it arrived seemed more cheaply made.The new one is Aluminum versus steel in the older model.It also required a lot more assembly.In some ways it's better than the old model (lighter, aluminum won't rust) but at the same time the handle seems more rickety because it's not a single piece like the old model and tends to flex where the two pieces connect.The short hose that connects to the reel also seems like a generic 5/8" inch when the older model came with a 3/4" Goodyear hose.All and all it's a solid hose reel and way better than anything plastic, but I think I would have been happier with another one of the older models at $99 instead of this newer model at $129.

J Cube 8701 Hose Reel Cart with 4 Pnuematic Tires 300' Hose Capacity Review

I received my order in record time and just finished assembling this hose reel.It matched the picture to a tee.Our previous hose reel was not of the same quality as this one, even though it cost more.The center section of our old reel had been crushed when the hose was wound on to it with no pressure and then pressurized.The center section of this reel is of substantially heavier gauge and I doubt it will be crushed.All of the hose fittings are of machined brass and that includes the swivel section.The swivel even has a C-clip so that it can be taken apart and the O-ring seals inside replaced when the time comes. These fittings were made of steel on our old hose reel and rusted badly over time.Replacing the seals on the old reel was not possible and it was starting to leak badly.I give lots of brownie points for all of the brass fittings and heavy duty welded construction of this reel!I wound about 250 ft of 3/4" OD hose onto the reel and that just about filled it up.I would consider 300 ft to be a little on the optimistic side.Assembly went well and the whole units feels solid and like it will last.It rolls nicely on the large ball bearing wheel, though I could do without having four more tires to keep inflated.I think a set of semi-pneumatic wheels would have served just as well.I feel that for the price, this is a great buy!

I bought this two years ago after going through four plastic carts.Assembly was tedious, but the cart was well-built and did very well the first year.It was left outside through our mild winters and by the second spring it was rusty, the axel warped, and finally, this second summer it has sprung an irreparable leak.No parts are available and repair would involve complete disassembly.

Ames 2380500 True Temper Hose Wagon Review

I bought this thinking it would probably suck since the price was too good to be true, but much to my surprise it is a very well-built, solid, product.It was a breeze to assemble, and there were even a bunch of random extra bolts in there which I assume were backups.The wheels are excellent pneumatic tires with smooth ball bearings.

The only thing that I might beef about is the angle that the hose connects to the reel, it's at such an angle that my hose always kinks at the connection when I wind it.I'm going to order a kink-free hose and see if that does better.Otherwise, I'll just have to be careful when I wind it to see if I can avoid the kinkage.

Ames True Temper True Temper Reel Easy Hose Reel Caddy #2386375 Review

This product might work if your hose is always running, but if the hose happens to have a kink in it, or if the water is turned off at the nozzle, turning on the water leading to the reel blows out (literally!!) a black plastic connector that attaches the reel to the hose that leads to the water line. Two small screws hold the connector to the reel, so any build-up of pressure inside the reel leads to disaster.

It seemed a good idea at the time, but obviously not practical for anyone with decent water pressure if there is ANY chance that the hose might be blocked at some point past the hose reel.

Suncast 175' Capacity Hosemobile Garden Hose Reel Cart, Bronze/Taupe #JNF175B Review

The whole reel is made of cheap and thin plastic. The crank gear is also plastic, and as soon as you put some stress on it (like trying to rewind a 100ft hose laying on the ground) it will start skipping and coming apart. The whole product is made of smaller plastic parts that are snapped together, which can not take the smallest amount of stress without breaking off from one another. By my second heavily assisted rewind the whole assembly started leaking like mad (something else snapped I guess), prompting me to return it.

This seems to be a common theme with all the Suncast products, as this is a third model of their hose reel that I have tried. If you had a bad experience with one, do not assume that their more expensive units are any better made. They're just more expensive, that's all.

No Crank RS12581 Crate 125-Foot Water Powered Retractable Garden Hose Reel Review

I normally do not write reviews, but in this case I think that it is necessary.
My wife & I are avid gardeners and there is probably not a day during the gardening season that we do not use our garden hose.
I purchased a Robo winder around 5 years ago (could be 7 or 8) and we were extremely pleased with it. We left it outside all year round and only disconnected the inlet hose during our Illinois winters.
We also purchased a 75 ft unit that we have also performed the same maintenance on, which is none and also found this unit GREAT.
Finally had to replace my Robo Winder with new version RW-12581 and found this new version faster and much, much smaller and more compact then my trusty Robo Winder.
I was even able to install a small sprinkler to the discharge hose to water those neglected areas instead of dumping the discharge water down a drain.

I had looked at all of the alterative units (electric, hand windups) and this unit is simply the BEST.
I wish that everything I purchased worked as well.

Ames True Temper 2384575 Reel Easy Auto Track Deck & Patio Hose Review

I've had this hose reel for about 6 years. It has been outside the whole time - the plastic has faded, but not split or become brittle.
The Amazon review details quite fairly the pros and cons of this model, for example the handle is quite low - but the gearing is chain driven, making it reliable and easy to turn.
Last Summer I decided to finally take it apart, clean out all the dirt and bug cocoons, and grease the sprocket. I discovered that after 6 winters, the hose assembly finally sprung a leak.
I went online to the Ames website, found the part, and ordered it. Funny, it didn't ask for a credit card???. I called them up - this items wears out from normal use, so they replace them free! Kind of the opposite philosophy of most companies.
This simple act of service is what make me a repeat customer.

Ames True Temper 2384675 Deluxe Hose Reel Cart Review

I ordered the Real Easy cart on Friday afternoon and,as promised, received the cart on Monday. The cart was shipped completely assembled in good condition. Within 1 hour, I had my garden hose installed and my wife started to water the lawn. I experienced no water leakages between the connector hose and the cart and between connector hose and my garden hose. The 8" wheels and three hose notches in the handle for the hoses make moving the cart much easier than our current hose carts. The documentation of the operating instructions and the part lists are excellent. Also, the hose cart looks nice. We had no problems with the paper work concerning this purchase.

Suncast RSH125D 125-Foot Water Powered Automatic Rewinding Garden Hose Reel Review

I purchased a RSH125 at Lowes. Unfortunately, it leaks water like mad - the water comes out behind the selector handle on the left side. I'll take it back to Lowes tomorrow. Sun's website has a listing of parts but no parts diagram!
They say they are sorry they don't have one! So, you'd have to guess which part it is based on the part description.

Jackson 2517000 Decorative Metal Hose Reel Cart With 150-Foot Hose Capacity Review

This hose reel, although it is made of metal,the construction is so poor that the plastic reel I had lasted for 8 years with no problem. This reel broke down while I was rolling it up for the first time ,it shot out a elbow connection from the side and cannot be repaired . The company's customer service wants the unit back but doesn't provide a postage back, the UPS cost is 40.00 which is just about half the cost of the reel.I will be scraping it .Don't Buy this!

Ames True Temper 2388310 Reel Easy Side Mount Hose Reel Review

I bought this today at my local hardware outlet... and three frustrating hours later, returned it... Here are my pro's and con's:

Pros:
* Nice color, blends into any house or garden
* Inexpensive
* Doesn't cause skin irritation, vomiting or hives (ok, that's a stretch, but I couldn't think of a third pro and I wanted three)

Cons:

*Flimsy plastic, cheaply made
*Connector to water supply line is plastic, not brass, and despite much tightening, mine dripped and dripped.
*Does NOT hold a 100 foot 5/8" hose.Not even close.

I'm going to order a metal "professional" model on Amazon that's about 3x the price of this...but reviews are very positive and it looks like it will last.This thing will NOT last.

225 Foot Hose Hideaway Hose Reel with Swivel Base Review

I now actually own three Suncast Smart Traker hose reels.The first one was purchased a couple years ago at Costco.I have been so pleased with the ease of the way it reels and the convenience of the storage bin that when I needed another one for a different location I immediately started looking for another Smart Traker. I was unable to find one locally and was delighted to find one on Amazon.I ordered one and after it arrived I realized I could actually use a third one and ordered another one. I enjoy the ease in the way it reels, the fact that it is securely mounted in the ground and swivels.The storage bin is large enough to store brushes and cleaning items as well as my liquid fertilizer.I have had no problems with leakage around the connections. It is very neat looking as everything is concealed from sight.I highly recommend this product. I am nearly 70 and do all my own yard work and this product has made it much easier for me to maintain my bird baths and yard.

Liberty Garden Products 840-1 Residential Grade 4-Wheel Garden Hose Reel Cart with 250-Foot-Hose Capacity Review

Good design but poorly made in China. 1) The first thing you'll notice is the stench of the "rubber" tires. This goes away after a couple of weeks. 2) The central component, the brass swivel/o-ring fitting at the leader hose/reel hub attach point, was too short. I had to disassemble it in order to get a wrench on the fitting to tighten it. Not too difficult if you have the correct retaining ring pliers. 3) The metal wasn't properly cleaned before powder coating, so large pieces flake off when you tighten the nuts and bolts during assembly. 4) There is no friction device on the reel, so the reel continues to spin after you pull on the hose, causing the hose to uncoil on the reel. 5) The hoops on the reel are full of welding slag, which makes an interesting tumbling sound when you turn the reel. 6) The leader hose is stiff and cheap.

Shanghai Worth Garden #5840 Green Thumb Deluxe HSE Reel Cart Review

For the price it is the best buy out there. Some have had a problem with assembly, but if you take time reviewing the instructions with the parts layed out the instructions are sufficient. Took about an hour to assemble. I am considering purchasing a second reel for the other side of the house. The handle problem that some buyers had appears to been corrected at the factory by them pre-bending the handle so it does not rub against the reel support. This unit sure beats the plastic units out there.

The quality of this product was very good.However, it has a very very narrow base and is not very tall.I doubt it can hold 80 feet of hose but would probably hold about 25 feet.There is an identical product that is much larger and holds 150 feet of hose but unfortunately it is not available through Amazon.(I actually have the larger version in my home down south and it holds about 75-100 feet, which is why I went in search for it.It's a great product.) However, because the product available through Amazon is too small I returned it.

Reel King RK-6000 Self-Retracting Hose Reel with 65 feet of 1/2-inch Garden Hose Review

I would have given this product a 5 star review if it had lasted more than a few months.Initially it worked great just as advertised. It made recoiling the hose quick and easy.But, after just one summer of normal backyard usage I started to have problems with it.The spring that draws the hose back into the housing must have started to wear out because gradually more and more effort was required to guide and push the hose back into the housing.Also, it began to drip water from a leak inside the housing.In sum, I think this is a really great product design that is unfortunately cheaply manufactured in China.
